Earls Court London - Graduate Fashion Week Collection 2008
The design and silhouette in the collection were mainly inspired from heritage menswear with a fusion of historic clothing worn during the British Empire in India. Growing up in the UK, but with strong links to family in India I felt that I was a fusion of culture, and wanted to show that through my collection.
Although hard to source and expensive, I was passionate about using organic fabric. From visiting my grandparents in India, I had witnessed the decline in wildlife over time as a result of pesticide use in cotton growing amongst other crops. It was therefore important that my creations were as eco-friendly as possible.
I would like to thank Samantha from https://www.hempfabric.co.uk/ for supplying the fabric used in the collection, making it possible for me to create this collection.
